Tipico Sportsbook, which is based out of Malta, is beginning an aggressive United States expansion. Its latest launch occurred in Colorado last Thursday, corresponding with the kickoff to the NFL season.
The company is committed to the expansion, and they are building a tech hub in the state which will create 441 jobs over the next eight years.
Tipico Sportsbook Launches in Colorado
Tipico Sportsbook went live in Colorado on Thursday and generated a lot of success. The company offered new users a deposit match of up to $750 for joining the platform. The company is looking to expand in the United States, and this is why they chose to build an office in Colorado.
The company considered Georgia, North Carolina, and Texas but went with Colorado because of the $7.5 million in tax incentives. Tipico US CEO claimed that Colorado was an easy decision because of the great universities, high quality of life in the state, and technology-driven companies.
He said, “Now that football season is here, and our sportsbook is live in the state, we’re confident that the deep pool of technology talent in Colorado will help us take the Tipico brand to the next level in the US.”
Since sports betting went live in May of 2022, the state has generated $66 million in revenue. This money has been dedicated to Colorado’s water conservation plan. Tipico is the second sports betting operator to build its headquarters in Denver. The other operator is PointsBet, the official betting platform of NBC Sports.
Colorado Gov. Jared Polis was excited to welcome Tipico to the state as an operator and business. He said, “his move proves what we already know: Colorado is the best place to live and work, and 441 new jobs will be created in Colorado thanks to this voter-driven decision.”
Jobs and Economic Development
The Tipico tech hub will create a lot of value for Denver and the sports betting company. Tipico has not selected a facility for the office, but this will be coming in the coming months. They want a facility that is going to allow for growth over time.
Tipico already has employees in the Denver area, but the numbers are limited.
Trevor Borelli, a Tipico spokesperson, released multiple statements following the announcement. He said, “his move proves what we already know: Colorado is the best place to live and work, and 441 new jobs will be created in Colorado thanks to this voter-driven decision.”
The jobs that will be offered at the facility are software engineers and application developers. Additionally, Tipico will give some opportunities for marketing, finance, and customer service positions at the office. The average salary of all these positions equates to $96,000, which will promote economic development in the state.
This is 128% over the average salary in the Denver area. Tipico Sportsbook is available in New Jersey and Colorado. It will launch in Indiana and Iowa by the first quarter of 2022. The book also partnered with Gannett in July. Gannett is the company behind USA Today Sports Media, which made the operator the official odds provider for Gannett’s content.
